Based in Teesside in North East England, That Clare is an eclectic musician whose sound is a powerful mix of cool acoustic & synthwave punk vibes with poignant lyrics. 

She’s a songwriter, performer and producer in her own right and often creates & records much of her work at home before completing in the studio. 

Strongly influenced by artists like Laura Jane Grace, Blondie, Patti Smith, and Depeche Mode, That Clare channels her experiences and emotions into dark poetic songs that address politics, protest, and personal struggles. Her music serves as a vehicle for positive action, giving a voice to trans/queer rights, democracy, equality, and social justice. 

In early 2025 she was selected by a panel of industry experts to take part in Tees Music Alliance’s PRS Foundation-funded music residency. She followed this with a performance at the Noisy Daughters stage for the acclaimed Last Train Home Festival, and visits to all three Transtock Festivals in Newcastle.

In 2026 Clare released her acclaimed debut album SOCIAL KONSTRUKT, a dark synthwave heavy journey reflecting life in 2026. Later the same year she collaborated with Artist Taxi Driver and Alice Skye of Hexham Pride to produce an impactful video for the release of single THAT OTHER which was featured on BBC Introducing.
