That Clare brings roaring post-punk synthwave queercore to protest. Think Nine inch Nails meets Everything But The Girl. A talented punk/alternative transgender singer songwriter who writes & performs her own often poetic songs with deep meaning,
Based in Teesside in North East England, That Clare is an eclectic musician whose sound is a powerful mix of cool acoustic & synthwave punk vibes with poignant lyrics.
She’s a songwriter, performer and producer in her own right and often creates & records much of her work at home before completing in the studio.
Strongly influenced by artists like Laura Jane Grace, Blondie, Patti Smith, and Depeche Mode, That Clare channels her experiences and emotions into dark poetic songs that address politics, protest, and personal struggles. Her music serves as a vehicle for positive action, giving a voice to trans/queer rights, democracy, equality, and social justice.
Earlier this year, she was selected by a panel of industry experts to take part in Tees Music Alliance’s PRS Foundation-funded music residency, The Green House, where she received a week of mentoring, free recording and rehearsal space, culminating in a live show at The Georgian Theatre, Stockton.
In September she opened the Noisy Daughters stage for the acclaimed Last Train Home Festival.
In November she is once again one of the featured performers at the Transtock Festival in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Check for info in the shows section.
Listen out for her forthcoming debut album Social Konstruct released 23rd Feb 2026 and the following tour dates.
